UPDATE - August 14, 2007

The winners of the One for One Membership Challenge each won a certificate for $100 to use towards the 2008 District Conference.  They are now also placed in a drawing for a Grand Prize where the winners will receive free registration to the conference and round trip airfare to Maui.

D5000 as a whole has inducted 31 New Members since the beginning of the new Rotary year.  Amazing!  What a great start to the New Year!  At this rate each club will easily reach DG George’s citation to grow clubs by a gross of 25% or a net of 10%.  South Hilo is in the lead with 6 New Members, followed by Lahaina with 5 New Members and Kahala Sunrise with 4 New Members.

I am working on the New Member orientation CD that many of you have emailed me about.  My email server is not allowing me to send this as it is quite a large document.  So I’m working with some local talent to reproduce the CD’s so we can get them to you via mail.   I hope to have these done soon and will let you all know when you can expect them.

I will be contacting club Presidents and Membership Chairs to set up dates in September and October to deliver more information on New Member Orientation procedures (along with the CD).  I encourage each club to send at least 2 representatives to these classes.

Please let the D5000 Membership Committee know how we can help!

Yours In Rotary,

MEMBERSHIP DEVELOPMENT

To recognize and reward the MOST IMPORTANT PERSON IN A ROTARIAN'S LIFE - THE SPONSOR, we have developed the 1 For 1 MEMBERSHIP CHALLENGE.  This program provides an alternative strategy to expand Rotary.  It simply asks each Rotarian to bring in ONE new member during next year (July 1st to June 30th).  As an incentive, the winning new member and sponsor will win a trip to the District Conference in Wailea on Maui.  The prize includes round trip airfare and the District Conference registration fee.

1 FOR 1 MEMBERSHIP CHALLENGE
The District 5000 Program

The Challenge:  Every Rotarian in District 5000 is challenged to bring at least one new member into Rotary during the year.

The Monthly Award:  Each month, we will draw the name of one sponsor and one new member from the list of names inducted the previous month.  Each will receive a certificate for $100 toward the District Conference scheduled for 24 May 2008 at the Wailea Marriott on Maui.  The monthly winners will have their name placed in the grand prize raffle.

The Grand Prize:  On April 10th, 2008 we will draw the name of one (or more depending on the amount raised from the District Governor auction) of the monthly winners to determine the Grand Prize winner.  The Grand Prize winners will each receive round trip airfare to Wailea, Maui, HI, to attend the Rotary District 5000 Conference, 24 May 2008.  In addition, the registration fee for the conference will be covered.  (Maui winners will receive discounts towards the meal package and hotel room.)

Contest Dates:  The contest starts on July 1, 2007 and ends on March 31, 2008.  The monthly drawing will be done on the 10th day of the following month.
