Re:  Nominations for the 2008-2009 Rotary Leadership Academy

Rotary year 2008-2009 will be the inaugural year for the newly created District 5000 Rotary Leadership Academy. The Leadership Academy is a nine month series of courses and meetings designed to increase the Rotary knowledge of past club presidents who may wish to participate beyond the club level.

The inaugural class of 2008-2009 will be limited to 20 students. The Academy is now accepting nominations for the 2008-2009 Academy year. Being nominated for the Academy does not guarantee admission.

Academy participants are expected to complete a series of six courses including readings, work on the Internet, six assignments (one per course) and a final exam for each course. In addition a final essay is required which will be published on the Academy web site for public view.

Attendance is mandatory at all of the following in order to graduate:

- Orientation on Oahu / Saturday, August 2, 2008 / Time: TBD; and

(1 of the next 2 items)

- A District wide Seminar (i.e. Foundation Seminar, Membership Seminar, etc.); or

- District Assembly 2009 / Attend 1 of the 4 assemblies; and

- Concluding Academy Seminar / Graduation / Friday, May 29, 2009 / Friday prior to 2009 District Conference

All curriculum materials will be provided and all course work will be posted on the Leadership Academy website for download. There will be a $125 registration fee that will cover all materials for the program.

The Academy courses will begin on September 1, 2008 and continue at the rate of one per month (except for December) and conclude with the written essay in April. All participants must have an email address and Internet access. High speed internet access is strongly recommended for completing all Academy course work as a dialup connection is unable to handle the online tutorials.

Nomination Forms for Past Club Presidents are due no later than May 1, 2008 along with the “Student Contract / Agreement of Understanding”. No nomination will be accepted without a signed Student Contract / Agreement of Understanding. Please send the two completed forms to the following:
