Turkey Recipe compliments of the Kona Club

JUST IN TIME FOR THANKSGIVING - Good Turkey Recipe
Here is a turkey recipe that also includes the use of popcorn as a stuffing - imagine that! When I found this recipe, I thought it was perfect for people like me who just aren't sure how to tell when poultry is thoroughly cooked, but not dried out. Give this a try.
BAKED STUFFED TURKEY
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Brush turkey well with melted butter, salt, and pepper. Fill cavity with Stuffing and popcorn. Place in baking pan with the neck end toward the back of the oven.
Listen for the popping sounds. When the turkey’s a** blows the oven door open and the turkey flies across the room, it's done. And you thought I couldn't cook!!

Welcome to Club S.L.I.M.E.!!!
Submitted by Rita Cassella, Honolulu Sunset
Early Act Club of the Rotary Club of Honolulu Sunset is affectionately known as Club S.L.I.M.E (Service Learning in Motion Everywhere) by the 4th and 5th graders at Punahou School.
The club meets on campus every Monday from 2:40 PM to 4:00 PM in Classroom Winne B-1. This past Monday the students were working on their International Project -- promoting UNICEF.

This organization , The United Nation's International Children's Emergency Fund, helps millions of children around the world who need food, shelter, and medical needs. The students viewed an informational DVD about the organization explaining how just a small amount of money can produce great gains in the quality of lives of children in poor conditions around the world.
The SLIMERS made posters for their individual classrooms to raise awareness of what they can do to help. The familiar orange UNICEF boxes were distributed to the students to collect funds on Trick or Treat night. What an enthusiastic group of students we have!
Please visit Club SLIME on Monday afternoons and see what the future of Rotary looks like!
See more photos of these great kids!

ROTARY CLUB OF KIHEI SUNRISE AND CURVES CELEBRATE A SUCCESSFUL CLOTHING DRIVE FOR BIG BROTHERS/BIG SISTERS OF MAUI COUNTY
Submitted by Joanne Laird
|
|

Melissa Roth (center), Executive Director of Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Maui County, accepts the final donation of almost 6000 pieces of "gently-used" clothing from Larry Laird, (L) President of the Rotary Club of Kihei Sunrise, and Debbie Armstrong (R), owner of the Curves locations on Maui.
|
200 individuals donated almost 6,000 articles of clothing in a 60-day Clothing Drive coordinated by the Rotary Club of Kihei Sunrise and both locations of Curves on Maui.
From September 3 through October 31 Curves accepted "gently-used" clothing during business hours at the Kihei and Kahului Curves locations. For every 8 items of clothing brought in, the donator received a ticket for a drawing for weekly prizes. The prizes of Gift Cards to local businesses were provided by the Rotary Club of Kihei Sunrise.
Deborah Armstrong, owner of Curves, also offered to waive the sign-up fee for a new 12-month membership for any woman who brought in eight items of clothing. Over 40 women took advantage of this offer. Armstrong also offered a free month membership to one member at each club at the end of the campaign.
Week after week the donation truck from Big Brothers and Big Sisters arrived at both Curves locations to pick up the many bags of donated clothing. Melissa Roth, Executive Director of Big Brothers and Big Sisters and Rotarian from Kahului Club, was on hand for the final pick up at the end of the drive along with Larry Laird, President of the Rotary Club of Kihei Sunrise, and Deborah Armstrong, Curves owner.

HANALEI BAY WEINBERG FRIENDS WORKDAY
|
|

The Rotary Club of Hanalei Bay Weinberg Friends Workday, headed by Community Service Chair Terry Wells, produced a turnout of 33 RCHB members on Saturday, October 27 at Kilauea Elementary School.
We painted a passageway that really needed a make over and restriped the parking lot and play area. For our efforts, the Weinberg Foundation gave us a check for $10,000 which we presented to Poipu Beach Past President Leila Fuller to benefit the YWCA Family Crisis Center.
Dennis Fujumoto, photographer extraordinaire from the Garden Island, took photos and wrote an article which published on Tuesday, October 30th. Dennis told us that he couldn’t believe all the projects we do for our island. President Sally Motta provided champagne so we could toast ourselves. Another job well done by the Rotary Club of Hanalei Bay.
