Make health a priority!

Aloha e Oahu Rotarians!

The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) is preparing for the upcoming Out of the Darkness (OOTD) Community Walk on Saturday, September 9, 2023! Join us as we come together at the Frank Fasi Civic Center Park in Honolulu. Click here for more details about the walk and registration options.

Hawai'i Rotary launched a local chapter of the Mental Health Initiative Rotary Action Group and we have a new landing page at RotaryD5000.org/MentalHealth. Our goal is to see each Rotary Club lead or join a team. It's very simple.

Get started today with these easy steps:

  1. Register your Walk team name: Use Rotary Club of XXXX
  2. Encourage individual Rotarians, friends, and family members to sign up with the team.
  3. It is a fund raiser, but no pressure, it's really about syncing up people to the resources and information about mental health and suicide prevention.
  4. For those that can attend on the walk day, encourage the team to wear a Rotary shirt and take pics.
  5. Use the slogan that "Rotary Mental Health is a Priority" wherever you can, decreasing stigma/increasing awareness is a major part of implementing our theme: Creating Hope in the World
Mahalo to the Rotary Clubs of Downtown Honolulu, Honolulu, and Kaneohe! They already have registered Walk Teams!

Please email the attached flyer out to your contacts, share on social media, and encourage folks to register (and form a team!) The more people that are connected to AFSP, the more we can share information and resources. People need support, especially NOW. Also attached is a Team Captain Toolkit which includes tips for building your team. Please start these conversations wherever you are - at work, in your neighborhood, and at home. Invite them to join you.

You can make a difference. Register now.

Aloha and Mahalo,

Kathleen Merriam, Chair
Hawai'i Rotary District 5000 Mental Health Rotary Action Group
