Lahaina, Hawaii - February 24, 2024 - Today, three Rotary Clubs in West Maui united forces to host a Maui Wildfires Recovery Workshop, extending invitations to community leaders and residents. The Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunrise, the Rotary Club of Lahaina, and the Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset led this collaborative effort, aimed at identifying and prioritizing wildfire recovery projects for the area.

In attendance was Hawaii Rotary District Governor, Mark Merriam, along with West Maui Councilmember Tamara Paltin, who lent her support to the discussions.

Members of the Hawaii Rotary District 5000 Foundation Executive Committee, including Foundation President Dave Hamil, observed the workshop and spoke with participants about the community’s needs during these recovery efforts. Their presence underscored the Foundation’s unwavering commitment to empowering local initiatives and fostering sustainable recovery efforts.

The Hawaii Rotary District 5000 Foundation has already funded over $600,000 towards community service projects led by the 9 Maui Rotary Clubs. This substantial investment reflects Rotary’s profound belief in the transformative power of collective action and service.
