Create Hope in the World

Aloha fellow Rotarians,

We are challenged in the coming year to Create Hope in the World. The opportunities are endless. Create is to take action, and Rotarians are people of action. The actions we take throughout the year are a positive contribution to our communities and the world. Simple actions are often the best, changing one life at a time.

Hope is a forward thinking concept. Today will be better than yesterday, tomorrow better than today. People of action will help others find hope, they will find ways to deliver on the promise of a better future.

We may have a global view of the world. Others have never left the island of their birth. Others are trapped in a world that only includes themself. Again, people of action will develop programs and projects to serve many.

A major initiative this year will be to create hope and a better life for the Micronesian populations that live on our islands. These recent immigrants are challenged in so many ways and Rotary can, and should, help. Service projects, conducted by every club across Hawaii, will make a difference. An international project on one of the island groups will make an impact that can be sustained in the future.

Rotary, and Rotarians, are at their best when helping others.

Thanks for all you do as a volunteer Rotarian. I look forward to working alongside you. Together, we will make our communities and the world a better place.
