The first of six projects funded by the Hawai'i Rotary District 5000 Folundation's Maui Fires Relief Fund, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset.

In the wake of the devastating Lahaina fires, many stepped up to support their community, but few have done so with as much heart and dedication as Joey and Juvy Macadangdang of Joey's Kitchen. Despite being personally affected and displaced from their restaurant and home due to the fires, this remarkable couple transformed their space into a beacon of hope.

For weeks, about 8 miles from their damaged Lahaina home, Joey's Kitchen has been more than just a restaurant. Serving anywhere from 300 to 800 plates daily, they've provided meals to displaced families, aid workers, and our brave firefighters. Moreover, in the immediate aftermath of the fires, their restaurant became a sanctuary, offering makeshift housing for up to 20 people at a time.

To honor their outstanding commitment to the community, even while grappling with their own challenges, the Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset proudly presented Joey and Juvy Macadangdang with a check for $500.

In times of adversity, it's heroes like Joey and Juvy that remind us of the power of community and the Aloha spirit. Let's continue to support and uplift one another. πŸŒΊπŸ”†β€οΈ
