    August is Membership Month in Rotary, and it is also the month we gather for our District 5000 Conference. In Hawaiian culture, growth is never just about the individual. It happens through relationships, shared responsibility, and the understanding that we are stronger when we move forward together. That same principle should guide how we grow Rotary. 
    This month, I encourage every club to focus not only on bringing new members into Rotary, but also on creating a true sense of ʻohana—where people feel welcomed, valued, and connected to meaningful service. Our District Conference on August 21–23 will give us an opportunity to strengthen those relationships, build partnerships between clubs, and explore new alliances with government, nonprofits, and community organizations. When we work together, across clubs and across islands, we expand both our membership and our impact.

Rotary International's presidential message for the 2026-27 is "Create Lasting Impact". This message calls to harness the change within ourselves, to look to the future, and to Create Lasting Impact. Change is only the beginning. Impact is what endures. We must think of the long-term impact of every project.

World Polio Day Oct 24 Events
World Polio Day is a time for Rotary members, public health advocates, and all who want a world free from polio to come together, recognize our progress in the fight to end polio, and talk about the actions we need to take in order to end polio for good. ShelterBox at the Nepal Disaster
ShelterBox is responding to devastating flash floods that have struck the Rasuwa District of northern Nepal, near the border with Tibet. The scale of this disaster is staggering. At least 389 people have been killed, and reports indicate more than 1,000 people are missing. Entire villages have been inundated, homes and buildings swept away, and roads, bridges, power, and communications infrastructure badly damaged.

Peace on Earth by 2030

RI President's Peace Message
𝙈𝙮 𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙣𝙜𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙮𝙤𝙪
Peace does not happen by accident. It must be pursued deliberately, built strategically, and woven intentionally into everything we do. That is the challenge I am placing before the Rotary world this year.
Rotary recognises peacebuilding as one of our areas of focus. But I believe peace must be more than a category of work we set aside for certain projects. It must become a lens, one we choose to look through every time we plan, every time we serve, every time we ask what kind of impact we truly want to leave behind.
Walk for Mental Health
The Rotary Action Group for Mental Health Initiatives  is excited to share with you 2 upcoming walk events for mental health! We partner with both of these awesome mental health organizations and they offer wonderful resources statewide. The walks are on every major island and we just set up some Walk Teams Oahu… These walks are on neighbor islands too, once we get Walk Captains there, we will let you know. You can register, even join for $5, it really helps. Please sign up to be on our Rotary Walk Team, you can even join us virtually!
 
 
Create Lasting Impact

It may surprise you when you realize that the person Rotary has changed most … is you. That is why this year, we are called to harness the change within ourselves, to look to the future, and to Create Lasting Impact. RI President Yinka says, "I want to be clear about what those words mean. Change is only the beginning. Impact is what endures. We must think of the long-term impact of every project. How can a new water system contribute to the long-term health of a community? Can residents help other communities build their own? How can a new classroom be part of a wider strategy to improve education in the area? That is the sort of thinking we need."
